Dog Walker App

UI/UX Design July 2025

Dog Walker is a mobile platform designed for pet owners who cannot consistently manage their dogs’ daily walking routines due to work schedules, travel, health conditions, or other responsibilities.
The project focused on simplifying the process of finding and booking trusted dog walkers while improving transparency, flexibility, and confidence throughout the experience.
The platform also introduced live walk tracking, recurring reservations, multi-dog management, and personalized care instructions to support a more reliable and convenient pet care workflow.

The Problem

Managing Reliable Dog Care

Dog owners often face situations where work schedules, travel, illness, or limited mobility prevent them from consistently managing their pets’ daily walking routines.
Finding trustworthy dog walkers, coordinating schedules, managing multiple pets, and maintaining visibility during walks can become stressful and time-consuming—especially for users who rely on recurring support or personalized care requirements.
The lack of a structured and transparent booking experience can also reduce confidence in outsourced pet care services.

The Project Goal

Creating a More Trustworthy & Flexible Pet Care Experience

The goal of the project was to design a user-centered booking experience that simplifies access to reliable dog walking services while improving transparency and flexibility for pet owners.
The platform aimed to support personalized care instructions, recurring reservations, multi-dog scheduling, and live walk visibility through a more seamless and trustworthy interaction flow.

User Research

Research & Insights

Research focused on understanding the practical and emotional concerns pet owners experience when relying on external care services.
Key insights highlighted the importance of trust, transparency, scheduling flexibility, and visibility during active walks. Users also needed clearer access to walker qualifications, recurring reservation options, and better management tools for households with multiple dogs.
These insights informed the platform’s booking structure, profile system, scheduling logic, and live tracking experience.

“I need to feel confident that my dog is safe, active, and cared for—even when I can’t be there myself.”

The Design

Approach

The design approach focused on reducing uncertainty throughout the pet care journey while creating a more transparent and flexible booking experience for dog owners.

Focus:

  1. Improving trust through verified walker profiles, qualifications, and clearer activity visibility
  2. Simplifying recurring bookings and multi-dog scheduling through more structured reservation flows
  3. Enhancing owner confidence through live tracking, activity insights, and personalized care details

Wireframing

Wireframes focused on structuring core booking flows, walker discovery, recurring reservations, and live activity tracking into a clear and manageable experience.
Special attention was given to reducing scheduling friction, improving information hierarchy, and helping users quickly compare walkers, availability, and service details.

Low-Fidelity Exploration

Low-fidelity explorations were used to refine reservation structure, scheduling interactions, and profile browsing patterns before introducing detailed visual design.
The focus remained on simplifying task completion, improving navigation clarity, and supporting quick access to essential information throughout the booking process.

“Trust grows when users can clearly see who is caring for their pets and what is happening in real time.”

Visual Refinement

The visual refinement phase focused on improving hierarchy, strengthening profile clarity, and creating a calmer and more trustworthy interface across booking and tracking experiences.
Walker profiles, scheduling components, tracking states, and pet activity summaries were refined to support better readability, confidence, and ease of interaction.

Final Prototype

Final prototypes refined interaction consistency, booking feedback, and live activity visibility across the complete user journey.
Micro-interactions, status indicators, and tracking updates were designed to create a smoother and more reassuring experience during reservations, active walks, and booking management.

The Impact

Building Trust in Digital Pet Care Services

The final design created a more structured and user-friendly booking experience for dog owners managing busy schedules or recurring care needs.
Users can browse verified walker profiles, schedule recurring or multi-dog reservations, add personalized care instructions, and monitor active walks through live tracking and activity updates.
The redesigned interaction flow also improved confidence and transparency by making scheduling, communication, and walk visibility easier to manage.

Reflections

This project explored how trust, transparency, and live visibility can improve digital service experiences built around ongoing care responsibilities and emotional user concerns.
